Description

Basics:1990 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat2wd, long box4.9L (300 c.i.d.) 6-cylinder engine5-speed manual transmission (5th is overdrive)Approx. 145,500 milesExtra info:-3.08 gears, so the truck gets decent mileage (about 20 mpg hwy)-Dual fuel tanks, both work-Converted to push-button start by previous owner-Comes with extra tires and Ford rims, plus original spare-Fiberglass cap and bedliner installed since newKnown problems:-A/C does not work— compressor was removed by previous owner-Right turn signal will not stay on (must hold signal lever up)-Tilt steering wheel will not adjust-- turn signal and tilt issues may stem from conversion to push-button start-Digital display on stereo doesn't light up-- this is common on these Ford stereos from this era, but stereo and cassette work fine-Parking brake works, but brake light can stay on for a bit after brake is released due to weak return spring in e-brake pedalRepairs completed:-Front calipers, brake hoses, rotors, pads, wheel seals, some brake line-Spark plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor-Power steering pump, pump pulley, serpentine belt, p/s hoses-Radiator-Driver's side power window motor and regulator-Fuel filter-Muffler-Tailgate latch & handle, and fiberglass cap rear window lift shocks/supports-Catalytic converter-Both rear leaf spring shackles and bracket hangers-Remove and reseal fiberglass cap windows and new foam strip between cap and bed** All work above, except resealing cap windows and foam strip, was performed at Auto-Lab, with recordsNOTE: The power steering pump was replaced five times with rebuilt and new aftermarket units because each one had quite a bit of whine. The shop even tried using ATF instead of p/s fluid, but nothing worked. These older Fords were notorious for persistent p/s pump whine. The only real long-term fix that I noticed across several F-150 forums is to swap out the whole system with a GM Saginaw system that Ford used in Econoline vans in the late 80s/ early 90s.-Three owners; I purchased the truck in June 2024 and the previous owner had it since 1993-Made several trips to Wisconsin with no problem.-I tried to show the areas of worst rust, but this truck is in decent shape for being a Wisconsin truck for over 30 years!-I would get in this truck and drive it anywhere. No leaks, no oil use, and drives well.-I'm selling the truck because it served its purpose for me, and I need to thin my herd of vehicles a little bit.$3600Serious inquiries, please contact me through Craigslist, and we'll go from there. Thanks!
